Head of Finance and Account

About this role

LawPavilion Business Solutions seeks a Head of Finance and Account to lead the finance and accounting function in Lagos. The role oversees daily accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, acting as a strategic partner to leadership as the company grows. The candidate will build and manage the accounts team and ensure accurate financial records for a technology and software‑as‑a‑service business. The position requires extensive accounting experience, including leadership and statutory/regulatory compliance. The employer is a leading provider of LegalTech and AI solutions in Africa.

What you would do

• Oversee end‑to‑end accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll accounting, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Ensure statutory compliance and manage tax filings and regulatory requirements
• Support leadership with financial insights for pricing, unit economics, and investor reporting
• Maintain automated and scalable accounting systems and processes
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury operations
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with department heads
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, bankers and regulators
• Design and maintain internal financial controls and accounting policies
• Lead, mentor and grow the accounts and finance team

What they are asking for

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Six to eight or more years of experience in accounting or finance
• At least three to five years in a leadership or managerial role
• Proven experience in complete cycle accounting and financial reporting
• Experience managing statutory audits and regulatory compliance
• Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and tax regulations in the operating jurisdiction
• Experience with accounting software (eg QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle NetSuite, or Zoho Books)
• Professional accounting qualification (eg ACCA or equivalent) strongly preferred and often required
• Experience in technology or software as a service preferred; legal tech exposure an advantage
• Based in Lagos or willing to relocate to Lagos
