About this role
Supabase is seeking a Head of AI Native Operations to lead the development and production deployment of autonomous agent systems that run internal operations. The role involves designing architecture, building initial components, and ensuring agents are correct, safe, and improving over time. You will lead a central team of senior individual contributors, set platform standards, and drive adoption across teams. The position is hands-on and focuses on building rather than buying, with responsibility for end-to-end agent platforms, safety, observability, and evaluation. The employer operates as a fully remote, globally distributed company with an open-source approach and a focus on AI-native workflows.
What you would do
- Own the agent platform architecture including harness, orchestration, and integration with company systems
- Evaluate new models and detect regressions before release
- Ensure full observability of agents with traceability of runs, decisions, costs, and trends
- Design safety controls such as least-privilege access, policy limits, escalation thresholds, audit logs, sandboxing and prompt-injection defenses
- Define workflows that can be fully owned by agents and productionise them
- Package successful components into reusable templates and eval harnesses for other teams
- Lead and develop a team of senior ICs, review designs and maintain quality standards
- Track metrics such as automated workflows, eval pass rates, and cost per run against hiring plans
What they are asking for
- Hands-on experience designing and building autonomous agent or LLM systems in production
- Strong architectural understanding of orchestration, tool access, context/memory, tracing, evals, guardrails, deployment
- Experience shipping agents with real permissions and safety controls
- Proven ability to articulate a point of view on automation and its business impact with concrete examples
- Technical leadership experience, including guiding senior builders and conducting design/code reviews
- Comfort with Git, Markdown, PRs, and programming in Python or TypeScript
