About this role

Senior clinical leader responsible for the obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatrics department in Kaduna. The role oversees clinical standards and governance, organises medical staffing and services, and links the department with the hospital and managed-care arrangements to provide safe, patient-centred care across outpatient, inpatient and referral services.

What you would do

• Set and audit standards of clinical care and patient safety in the department.
• Organise medical staffing, rotas, clinics and ward cover to ensure continuity of care.
• Lead diagnosis and management of complex cases with senior clinical decision making and referral oversight.
• Supervise, mentor, appraise and support the development of consultants, medical officers and trainees.
• Ensure effective interface with other clinical departments, diagnostics, pharmacy, nursing and managed-care processes.
• Contribute to service planning and quality improvement initiatives within the department.

• MBBS or MBChB from a recognised institution.
• 8-10 years post-fellowship specialist experience in obstetrics and gynaecology with at least 2 years in a departmental leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatrics across the patient pathway.
• Ability to lead clinical teams and organise medical staffing, clinics and ward cover.
• Understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, audit and quality assurance.
• Effective communication, teaching and supervisory skills.
