HRD Solutions is hiring a Head Chef in Lagos to lead kitchen operations in the cafeteria. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, nutritious, safe, and cost-effective meals for students, staff, and visitors while ensuring food safety and hygiene standards. The Head Chef will oversee food preparation, menu planning, staff supervision, inventory control, and catering for events. The position reports to the Cafeteria Manager and requires extensive experience in commercial kitchens or institutional catering. Salary is stated as N500,000 to N600,000 per month.
What you would do
- Oversee daily food preparation, cooking and meal service
- Ensure meals meet approved recipes, quality, portion and nutritional standards
- Design and update diverse, balanced menus and plan event menus
- Maintain kitchen safety, cleanliness and proper food handling and storage
- Enforce compliance with food safety, hygiene and sanitation regulations
- Supervise, train, mentor and schedule cooks and kitchen assistants
- Monitor inventory, forecast ingredients, minimise waste and control costs
- Liaise with procurement for ingredients and ensure equipment maintenance
- Plan and supervise catering for functions and events
- Support catering for meetings and special events to meet client expectations
What they are asking for
- HND or Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality/Catering Management, Food Technology or related field
- Professional culinary certification is an added advantage
- 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in commercial kitchens, institutional catering, hotels or university food services
- At least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Skills in menu planning, inventory and cost-control
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Advanced culinary and recipe development skills
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and manage teams
