About this role
AIDHealth Inc. is hiring a Hausa transcriber–translator for full-time hybrid work in Nigeria. The role involves transcribing cognitive-interview recordings in Hausa and translating them into English, primarily for research projects, with a per-audio-hour engagement model.
What you would do
- Transcribe cognitive-interview recordings in Hausa verbatim
- Maintain confidentiality of all material
- Flag misunderstood words or questions for questionnaire finalisation
- Translate transcripts into English in a two-column format aligned by timestamp
- Preserve Hausa idioms and provide short notes
- Ensure accuracy and accuracy while handling sensitive information
What they are asking for
- Excellent written English
- At least 3 years of Hausa–English transcription or translation experience for research or media
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Hausa, Linguistics, Translation, English or related field
- Native Hausa speaker with knowledge of the Kano dialect (Kananci)
- Experience with sensitive topics such as health, gender or family life (preferred)
- Accuracy, patience and discretion in handling information
