About this role

AIDHealth Inc. is seeking a Hausa NLP Data Scientist to work on Hausa language modelling projects, including fine-tuning AfroXLMR or AfriBERTa on Hausa data and monitoring model performance over time. The role targets candidates with strong NLP/machine learning background, experience with low-resource languages, and native Hausa plus fluent English."

What you would do

• Benchmark candidate listening platforms for Hausa content coverage
• Fine-tune transformer models on project Hausa data
• Automate coding categories once macro-F1 reaches 0.80 or higher
• Monitor model accuracy monthly and retrain when performance drifts
• Conduct time-series analyses and comparisons across study phases
• Maintain secure data warehouse and project code repository

What they are asking for

• MSc or higher in Computer Science, NLP, Data Science, Statistics or Computational Linguistics
• At least 3 years of professional experience in applied NLP or machine learning
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning transformer models
• Experience with African or low-resource languages, ideally Hausa
• Strong Python skills (Hugging Face, pandas, scikit-learn) and SQL knowledge
• Native Hausa speaker with fluent English
