About this role
Role is for a Hausa Interpreter to support ICRC operations in Nigeria, performing interpretation and translation duties in sensitive humanitarian contexts. It targets candidates with strong Hausa and English skills and readiness for field deployment on a 12‑month assignment (extendable) across various sites.
What you would do
- Interpret orally between Hausa/English (and other languages as needed) during interviews, dialogues with authorities, and family tracing activities.
- Translate written material from Hausa or other languages into English as required.
- Analyse and report on conditions of detention, security and related matters.
- Support other protection activities as needed.
- Interact with internal teams and external partners to facilitate operational needs.
- Possibly contribute to other protection work as requested.

- Proficiency in English (C1) and Hausa (C1).
- Two years of professional interpreting/translation experience preferred.
- Strong humanitarian motivation and ability to work under pressure.
- Open-minded and adaptable; driving licence for manual transmission vehicles.

- Willingness to undertake unaccompanied postings for initial missions (minimum 12 months each).
