Geoscience - Geophysicist III
About this role
ABNL Limited is recruiting for a Geoscience - Geophysicist III on a contract basis. The role involves supporting and enhancing 2D/3D seismic and wellbore acquisition programs, and may serve as a Formation Evaluation Specialist. The successful candidate will work with operating groups, technical specialists and vendors to deliver seismic and borehole survey solutions that meet company goals while ensuring safety. The position targets individuals with strong geophysics knowledge and related experience in seismic analysis and interpretation. The company is an indigenous oil and gas services firm based in Lagos, with a history dating back to 1992.
What you would do
- Support and enhance 2D/3D seismic and wellbore acquisition programs.
- Interface with operating groups, technical specialists and vendors to deliver acquisition solutions.
- Provide seismic and borehole survey acquisition solutions that meet safety and organisational goals.
- Possibly serve as a Formation Evaluation Specialist.
- Apply geophysical methods to unconventional plays and gravity/magnetic data interpretation.
- Collaborate with geoscience team to interpret seismic data and geological features.
- Utilise Petrel and other computing tools for geology and geophysics tasks.
- Contribute to seismic processing and acquisition operations.
- Mentor and coach team members as needed.
- Work as part of a diverse team to achieve project goals.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Geotechnical or Geophysical disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of local petroleum geology (minimum basic level).
- Experience with post-stack and pre-stack seismic inversion/AVO.
- Background in structural geology across tectonic systems and reservoir types.
- Experience in seismic attribute analysis and petrophysical analysis in siliciclastic settings.
- Strong skills in geology and geophysical interpretation, seismic processing and acquisition operations.
- Experience interpreting gravity and magnetic data; unconventional plays experience.
- Competence in computing applications (Geology and Petrel).
- Good mentoring and coaching abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
