Frontend Engineer
About this role
Turnkey Africa Limited is seeking an entry-level Frontend Engineer to join the Evolve team in Lagos. The role involves building and maintaining screens, features, and bug fixes in Angular or Next.js, integrating REST APIs, and ensuring responsive, accessible user journeys. You will work with frontend and backend engineers, QA, product, and the Shared Experience squad, under guidance from a Technical Lead. The position provides a growth path towards Associate Software Engineer based on performance and business needs, with emphasis on learning insurance workflows and solid engineering practices. The employer supplies technology and services for insurance and bancassurance software across multiple African markets.
What you would do
- Build and maintain Evolve screens and features according to designs and criteria
- Fix bugs and implement small, reviewable changes in Angular or Next.js
- Integrate REST APIs and manage validation and loading states
- Create responsive, accessible forms and user journeys
- Write and maintain unit and component tests for changes
- Coordinate with QA on cross‑browser checks and defect verification
- Follow Git workflow with feature branches and pull requests
- Explain approach, apply feedback and keep technical documentation up to date
- Investigate issues via browser tools and logs, escalating high‑risk problems
- Clarify requirements with backend, product and QA before implementation

- Foundational TypeScript or JavaScript, HTML and CSS skills
- Experience with a component framework (Angular, React or Next.js) from coursework, internship or projects

- Basic knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP and JSON
- Version control with Git
