Forestry and Natural Resource Management Officer (Katsina)
About this role
A Forestry and Natural Resource Management Officer is needed in Katsina to lead ecosystem restoration and climate resilience activities, including reforestation, watershed management and agroforestry, with a focus on sustainable livelihoods and peacebuilding in conflict-affected communities.
What you would do
- Coordinate land reclamation and nursery development with local stakeholders
- Lead community-based reforestation and afforestation across eight LGAs
- Oversee planting and monitoring of 200,000 trees
- Promote carbon sequestration practices and access to carbon financing
- Deliver training on sustainable land management, agroforestry and climate-smart agriculture
- Monitor, document and report on restoration progress and contribute to MEAL processes

- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ecosystem restoration, agroforestry or watershed management
- Strong understanding of conflict-sensitive programming and Do No Harm principles
- Familiarity with carbon financing, climate-smart agriculture and land use planning
- Proven experience in community mobilisation and capacity building
- Excellent facilitation, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
