A leading retail company in Lagos is hiring a Financial Controller to oversee financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, strengthen internal controls and support strategic decisions. The role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, inventory cost control, risk management, revenue assurance, and tax/compliance. What you would do
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, variance analysis and performance monitoring.
- Analyse financial performance, costs, and key indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, bank balances and liquidity to fund operations.
- Oversee inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, stock movements, shrinkage and variances with relevant teams.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure policy compliance.
- Monitor revenue-related activities including sales reconciliations, POS transactions, cash collections and refunds.
- Oversee supplier payments and customer balances, reconciliations and timely settlements.
- Ensure tax and regulatory compliance and assist with statutory reporting.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
- Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA or equivalent.
- 7–10 years of relevant finance experience with a supervisory or financial management role.
- Experience in the retail sector, preferably supermarkets, FMCG or multi-branch operations.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/financial management systems.
