Finance Specialist - Inventory (Kano)
About this role
A full-time Finance Specialist - Inventory role based in Kano at Seven Up Bottling Company Limited. The position focuses on monitoring and managing all financial aspects of inventory across the supply chain, ensuring accurate valuation, cost control and compliance with accounting standards. The role works with operations, procurement and warehousing to optimise stock and minimise financial risk. The company is a large, established beverage manufacturer with nine automated bottling plants in Nigeria.
What you would do
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile physical stock with financial systems.
- Monitor and analyse inventory movements, aging and variances to identify risks and opportunities.
- Partner with supply chain and operations teams on inventory levels, turnover and obsolescence.
- Assist in planning and conducting physical and cycle counts; analyse results.
- Support audits related to inventory and respond to queries with documentation.
- Perform root cause analysis on stock adjustments, write-offs and losses.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and inventory-related audit requirements.
- Prepare inventory reports and support close processes (monthly, quarterly, annual) including valuation and journal entries.
- Contribute to working capital improvement by providing inventory optimisation insights.
- Assist in developing and implementing inventory management policies and procedures.

- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance, inventory control or supply chain finance in FMCG or manufacturing.
- BSc in Finance, Accounting or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; detail-oriented.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate with non-financial teams.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and strong Excel skills.
- Sound knowledge of inventory accounting principles including standard costing, FIFO and weighted average.
