Finance Specialist - Inventory
About this role
A full-time Finance Specialist - Inventory role based in Kano, focusing on managing financial aspects of inventory across the supply chain for a large Nigerian FMCG manufacturer. The position targets candidates with finance or accounting backgrounds who can work with operations, procurement and warehousing teams.
What you would do
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile physical stock with financial systems
- Monitor and analyse inventory movements, ageing and variances to identify risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to review levels, turnover and obsolescence
- Prepare inventory reports and support monthly, quarterly and annual closings including valuation and journal entries
- Conduct root cause analysis on stock adjustments, write-offs and losses
- Assist in physical and cycle counts and support audit requirements related to inventory

- BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance, inventory control or supply chain finance in FMCG/manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting principles (standard costing, FIFO, weighted average)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and strong Excel skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate with non-financial teams
