Finance Officer

About this role

The Finance Officer supports the CGPP Bauchi Project and the finance department by ensuring accounting activities align with CRS standards, GAAP, donor regulations and legal requirements. The role involves handling daily financial tasks, preparing financial services, and maintaining accounting records. It is based in Abuja and targets individuals with a background in accounting or finance who can work with partners and subrecipients. CRS operates as an international NGO delivering relief and development programmes and partners with local church and non-church organisations to implement its projects in Nigeria.

What you would do

• Review financial transactions and ensure documents are accurate and complete.
• Maintain data required for processing transactions in the Insight accounting system.
• Record delegated financial transactions after approvals.
• Review accounts to detect irregularities.
• Assess subrecipient financial management and help strengthen partner capacity.
• Prepare financial reports.
• Share information on accounting policies and compliance with subrecipients and staff.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or business administration.
• Minimum of two years accounting experience.
• CPA or ACCA certification.
• Preferably experience with international or local NGO, or financial/banking institution.
• Familiarity with donor regulations and financial reporting software.
• Proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
