About this role
Role: Finance Manager for the Nigeria entity of M-KOPA, based in Lagos. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role responsible for monthly reporting, IFRS 9 provisioning, treasury and compliance, and shaping the unit economics that inform commercial decisions. It is suited to a qualified accountant with strong IFRS knowledge and financial modelling who can partner with the commercial team in a fast-growing fintech.
What you would do
- Lead the Nigeria entity’s end-to-end monthly close, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany activity, depreciation and FX.
- Prepare the monthly management reporting pack with executive commentary and perform variance analysis to separate market effects from one-off items.
- Monitor the loan book, analyse repayment behaviour by cohort, and own provisioning and bad debt trends.
- Manage statutory and regulatory reporting and maintain documentation for funding and compliance processes; support due diligence as needed.
- Ensure IFRS compliance in key areas (IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IAS 21, revenue recognition), maintain the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss model, and support IFRS 18 readiness.
- Partner with the commercial team to interrogate unit economics, model new product launches, assess pricing and supply decisions, and prepare financial cases for leadership and board discussions
What they are asking for
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAN, ACCA, CA or equivalent) with hands-on experience in finance management and ownership of statutory and management reporting cycles.
- Strong IFRS knowledge, especially IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IAS 21 and revenue recognition; proven ability to manage audits end-to-end.
- Excellent financial modelling and communication skills; ability to build multi-scenario models in Excel and present conclusions to senior stakeholders.
- Big 4 training (PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG) is a strong advantage.
- Experience in Nigerian fintech, lending or asset-financing sectors is a plus; curiosity and commercial instincts matter
