Field Support Engineer (Telecom)

About this role

A field based network support engineer role for an indigenous ISP in Lagos, focused on on-site installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of customers' network infrastructure. It is suited to hands-on professionals with strong technical expertise and good client-facing skills who can work independently in dynamic environments.

What you would do

• Install, configure and test network hardware on site (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, controllers).
• Run and test copper and fiber cabling and validate network designs.
• Rack, stack and cable equipment in data centres and wiring closets.
• Assist with circuit turn-ups and provisioning (e.g., MPLS, DIA, Broadband).
• Provide advanced tier 2/3 technical support and perform root cause analysis for network issues.
• Maintain documentation, communicate project status to clients and transfer knowledge as needed.

• Bachelor's degree (2nd Class Upper) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on field network support or implementation experience.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS and subnetting.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco/Meraki, HPE/Aruba or similar enterprise switches/routers.
• Experience with firewall configurations (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower).
• Knowledge of WAN/LAN technologies and protocols (OSPF, RIP, BGP, HSRP, VPN) and cabling concepts.
