Field Service Engineer - Centrifugal Compressors

Baker Hughes is seeking a Field Service Engineer to work on Centrifugal Compressors in Rivers. The role involves coordinating and overseeing field work, providing technical support to clients and craft labour, and planning job instructions for crew and equipment. Primary duties include installation, commissioning, startup, and maintenance of Baker Hughes centrifugal compressors at customer sites, as well as inspections and alignment of foundations and equipment. The candidate should have experience with rotating equipment in field service at customer sites and be able to work autonomously on installation and maintenance activities. What you would do

• Provide technical advice and support to clients and craft labour during installation, commissioning and maintenance of centrifugal compressors.
• Unload and inspect the compressor and major auxiliaries at the installation site and position them on the foundation.
• Improve geometric and dimensional checks of foundation, equipment and skids; ensure positioning, leveling and alignment.
• Install, commission and startup various Baker Hughes centrifugal compressors at customer sites.
• Perform minor and major inspections of centrifugal compressors.
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment; inspect and adjust clearances; assess wear and damage of bearings, seals and related components.
• Evaluate seals, bearings, clearances and related components for wear and damage.
• Assess and service gas seals, labyrinth and honeycomb seals, oil seals and diaphragms as applicable.
• Inspect diaphragms, volutes and other centrifugal compressor components as part of maintenance.
• Work autonomously on installation and/or maintenance activities in the field at customer sites.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc/BTech) with at least 5 years of experience, or a full-time 3-year Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with rotating equipment (centrifugal compressors, vertical/horizontal) in field at customer sites.
• Strong functional/technical, customer focus, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Prior experience in installation and/or maintenance of centrifugal compressors in the field at customer sites.
• Ability to perform installation and/or maintenance activities autonomously in the field.
