Field Service Engineer
About this role
A Field Service Engineer role for a solar energy start-up focused on maintaining and improving energy uptime at hubs and sites across Nigeria, with significant travel. It targets candidates with strong technical/engineering experience and the ability to work independently and in teams.
What you would do
- Prepare hub health and technical issue reports for the Regional Service Engineer
- Collaborate with Jaza Stars and the data team to diagnose and resolve technical challenges
- Assist in setting up new hubs, ensure connectivity, and perform routine maintenance on energy systems
- Travel to hubs or troubleshoot remotely to resolve issues
- Oversee installation and configuration of solar panels, wiring and related equipment
- Document field activities and maintain accurate inventory records of hub equipment and components

- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (discipline not strictly required if hands-on experience is strong)
- 2-3 years of technical/engineering experience in telecommunications, energy or related sectors
- Experience installing or ensuring uptime of energy systems (diesel and solar preferred)
- Ability to work independently and in a team, tech-savvy with strong problem-solving skills
- Strong commitment to safety and HSE compliance
- Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools (MS Office, Google products)
