Field Sales Representative (Merchant Acquisition)

About this role

Ingena Labs Limited is seeking a Field Sales Representative (Merchant Acquisition) to drive merchant onboarding and activation for its Chop Awoof platform in Lagos, starting in Yaba. The role focuses on identifying, approaching and onboarding food businesses, building lasting relationships and helping merchants publish offers and complete initial transactions. The candidate should be able to work independently, meet targets, and operate mainly through face-to-face visits. The employer runs Chop Awoof, a food-tech marketplace that connects customers with restaurants and other food businesses to offer discounted food. Salary is a monthly range with performance-based commissions and other benefits as described.

What you would do

• Visit food businesses to introduce Chop Awoof and persuade sign-ups.
• Identify potential merchants in assigned locations and approach them.
• Assist new merchants with registration, account setup and publishing first offers.
• Demonstrate platform features for managing offers and orders.
• Follow up to ensure ongoing publishing and platform usage.
• Help merchants achieve their first successful customer transactions.
• Meet weekly and monthly merchant acquisition and activation targets.
• Maintain records of visits, sign-ups and activations.
• Provide feedback on merchant concerns, objections, and competitive activity.
• Suggest improvements to merchant acquisition strategies.

• Previous field sales, direct sales, business development or merchant acquisition experience preferred.
• Strong communication, persuasion and negotiation skills.
• Confident in approaching unfamiliar businesses and engaging owners/managers.
• Willingness to travel around Lagos and conduct daily in-person visits.
• Ability to handle rejection, overcome objections and close deals.
• Self-motivated, resourceful and target-driven; able to work independently.
• Good knowledge of Lagos, especially Yaba and nearby areas.
• Basic smartphone skills and ability to demonstrate mobile apps.
• Good spoken English; Yoruba or Nigerian Pidgin is an advantage.
• OND qualification preferred; relevant sales experience considered.
