Farm Supervisor – Greenhouse & Open - Field Pepper Cultivation
About this role
Aldelano Organic Foods Ltd seeks a Farm Supervisor for greenhouse and open-field pepper cultivation in Ogun. The role focuses on supervising daily farm operations, managing field workers, and ensuring crop health and targets are met in habanero and bell peppers. The job requires hands-on experience in commercial pepper production, including nursery management, transplanting, irrigation, fertigation, pest and disease control, and harvest activities. The supervisor will oversee practices from nursery to harvest and support yield and performance across both greenhouse and field settings. Immediate resumption is required and the position emphasises practical field leadership over office work.
What you would do
- Oversee greenhouse and open-field pepper production from nursery establishment to harvesting
- Ensure land preparation, bed formation, planting, spacing and transplanting are correct
- Monitor crop growth through vegetative, flowering and fruiting stages
- Manage pruning, staking, trellising and crop maintenance
- Maintain greenhouse conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation, irrigation) and field drainage
- Supervise pest and disease identification with IPM practices and safe pesticide use
- Supervise irrigation and fertigation schedules and record keeping
- Oversee nursery management, transplanting operations and seedling establishment
- Supervise labour, assign daily tasks and monitor attendance and performance
- Maintain harvest planning, handling, sorting, grading and post-harvest records
What they are asking for
- Minimum of OND/HND/bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field
- 3-5 years of practical pepper cultivation experience in both greenhouse and open-field
- Experience supervising farm workers and coordinating agricultural operations
- Strong knowledge of habanero, chilli or bell pepper production
- Practical understanding of drip irrigation, fertigation, pest management and crop nutrition
- Ability to operate basic farm monitoring equipment (pH and EC meters)
- Excellent recordkeeping, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Willingness to work directly in the field and lead by example
- Strong leadership and ability to work under production deadlines
- Good understanding of farm hygiene, biosecurity and safety procedures
