About this role
Evidence Action seeks an Executive Vice President, Evidence in Abuja. The role leads the organisation’s Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation teams, cost-effectiveness work, and epidemiology, ensuring the evidence informing program design, delivery and scaling is rigorous and credible. The EVP will sit on the Global Leadership Team and report to the CEO, balancing technical leadership with organizational strategy and external engagement. The position requires building and guiding cross-functional evidence strategy and institutionalising learning across the program lifecycle. The role emphasises independent quality assurance of evidence and a strong voice in decisions on scale-up, iteration, and wind-down. The location is flexible with a preference for an office-based setting in Nigeria, India, or Kenya, and involves travel as needed.
What you would do
- Oversee the Technical and Strategic components of the evidence teams (MLE, cost-effectiveness, epidemiology) and ensure they align into a coherent picture for program decisions.
- Set cross-program evidence strategy in collaboration with leadership and program leads.
- Act as a technical partner to make evidence visible and actionable across the organisation, including refining cost-effectiveness tools.
- Champion evidence throughout a program’s lifecycle to inform scaling decisions and tool development.
- Institutionalise monitoring and learning practices in programmes to drive ongoing performance improvements.
- Own independent quality assurance for evidence synthesis and modelling, addressing uncertainty and assumptions.
- Design and implement systems for portfolio-wide evidence reviews, stage gates, and structured reviews.
- Ensure data quality assurance remains independent from evidence generation and establish standards.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations for scale-up, iteration, and wind-down decisions.
- Strengthen internal technical capability and lead change across MLE, cost-effectiveness, and epidemiology teams.
What they are asking for
- Rigorous technical training with practical experience applying evidence in implementation settings.
- Proven technical leadership and management of large teams in LMIC contexts.
- Background in cost-effectiveness or health economics or ability to bring in experts as needed.
- PhD or equivalent quantitative expertise in judging evidence quality and methods.
- Ability to lead change, build trust across teams and cultures, and work with senior stakeholders.
- Willingness to work on-site and travel as required; not a remote role.
