Engineering Manager (RCL)

About this role

FairMoney in Lagos seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for building and scaling lending and credit technology. The role combines technical leadership with people management, working with Product, Data, Risk and other stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable solutions. You will oversee engineering execution, technical direction, team development and system reliability.

What you would do

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of software engineers.
• Own the technical direction and delivery of systems supporting lending and credit products.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Data and other teams to define technical solutions and delivery priorities.
• Drive the design, development and scaling of reliable backend services and distributed systems.
• Establish engineering standards around code quality, testing, deployment, observability and reliability.
• Support incident management and conduct root-cause analysis.

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with significant backend development.
• 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams.
• Hands-on coding experience and the ability to design and code systems.
• Strong experience designing and building distributed systems and scalable backend applications.
• Experience in lending, credit, fintech or payments or a closely related financial domain.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, optimisation, indexing and query performance.
