Engineering Manager

Moniepoint is hiring an Engineering Manager in Lagos. What you would do
- Own end-to-end delivery across cross-functional teams within your product area.
- Evaluate requirements for technical feasibility and translate them into EPICs and user stories.
- Prioritise and groom the backlog with product, UX, and engineering partners.
- Plan and drive sprint execution with clear goals and timelines.
- Champion engineering processes and rituals to improve collaboration and accountability.
- Monitor team velocity and capacity to optimise resource allocation.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and stakeholder alignment to remove bottlenecks.
- Guide design decisions and participate in code reviews to sustain engineering quality.
- Ensure monitoring, alerting, and observability for owned services meeting SLIs/SLOs.
- Define and track post-release product metrics with Product Managers.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8-10 years of experience as a software developer or similar hands-on technical role.
- 5+ years of experience building production systems using Java and Spring Boot.
- Minimum 3 years of proven engineering leadership managing high-performing teams.
- Solid grasp of Agile methodologies including sprint planning and backlog grooming.
- Ability to translate complex product requirements into EPICs, user stories, and tasks.
- Strong backend engineering expertise; exposure to frontend tech is a plus.
- Experience with project planning and tracking tools for delivery timelines.
- Familiarity with engineering and product health metrics and monitoring tools.
- Hands-on capability to debug production issues, lead incident response, and conduct blameless RCAs.
