Engineering Assistant
About this role
George Houston Resources Limited seeks an Engineering Assistant in Lagos to diagnose and test electrical and electromechanical components, including batteries, BMS, chargers and related EV hardware. The role involves performing diagnostics and tests, documenting results and repair recommendations, and supporting testing of new EV kits and hardware development. The position targets someone with hands-on engineering experience in electronics or EV systems and the ability to prepare clear technical reports.
What you would do
- Diagnose faults in batteries, BMS, chargers, controllers and other electrical/electromechanical components.
- Perform electrical and performance tests including voltage, current, continuity, charging and thermal assessments.
- Identify faults and determine root causes.
- Document test results, findings and repair recommendations, and include photographs.
- Support decisions on repair, reuse, quarantine, warranty return or scrapping of components.
- Assist with testing and validation of new EV kits and components prior to deployment.
What they are asking for
- HND, BSc or strong technical diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Physics, Electronics or a related field.
- 1-3+ years of practical experience in electronics diagnosis, battery systems, EV systems, mechatronics, automotive electrical systems, laboratory testing or technical R&D.
- Good knowledge of batteries and electrical systems; understanding of BMS, motors, controllers, sensors, power electronics, wiring harnesses and charging systems is an advantage.
- Ability to use tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, bench power supplies, soldering/rework tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills; ability to prepare clear technical reports.
- Comfortable working across lab, workshop and field locations; strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
