About this role
VAVA Furniture in Lagos is seeking a skilled Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems across its facilities and project sites. The role covers wiring, lighting, sockets, switches, distribution boards and related equipment, plus generator and power distribution components where needed. The Electrician will perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis and urgent repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will work with the facility and maintenance teams, keep maintenance records and ensure tools are properly used and maintained.
What you would do
- Install and repair electrical wiring, lighting systems, sockets, switches, and distribution boards.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.
- Install and maintain generators and power distribution components where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards for all electrical work.
- Respond to electrical faults, breakdowns, and emergency maintenance requests.
- Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, materials and equipment used.
- Collaborate with the Facility Manager, maintenance team, contractors and other technical personnel.
- Ensure electrical tools and equipment are properly maintained and safely used.
What they are asking for
- OND, Trade Test Certificate, Technical Certificate or equivalent in Electrical Engineering/Installation or related field.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience as an Electrician (practical knowledge of installations, fault finding and maintenance).
- Ability to read and interpret basic electrical drawings and diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Experience using electrical testing tools and equipment.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity, reliability and attention to detail.
