Electrical Engineer, Panel Builder

About this role

The role is for an Electrical Engineer specialising in panel building to design, assemble, wire, test, troubleshoot and commission electrical control panels and switchboards for Mikano in Lagos. It requires completing panel-building activities safely, accurately and to the required quality and timelines.

What you would do

• Review electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and other documents before starting work.
• Interpret and implement approved designs and drawings for panel building.
• Prepare materials, components, tools and equipment for fabrication and assembly.
• Assemble electrical control panels, MCCs, automation panels and enclosures.
• Install and wire components such as circuit breakers, relays, meters, transformers, PLCs and VFDs.
• Carry out panel fabrication tasks (enclosure prep, drilling, gland installation, DIN rail, cable management) and perform wiring and testing on completed panels.

What they are asking for

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical panel building, industrial electrical installation, control panel assembly, testing or commissioning.
• Practical experience assembling and wiring control panels, MCCs, distribution boards and automation panels.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical standards, codes and safe working practices.
• Professional certification or membership in a recognised engineering body is an advantage; training in panel building, PLCs, VFDs or control systems is also an advantage.
