Diving Supervisor
About this role
Based in Lagos, the Diving Supervisor plans, coordinates and supervises commercial diving activities for construction, inspection, maintenance and other underwater operations. The role ensures diving work is properly planned, resourced and carried out safely in accordance with approved procedures, diving standards, project requirements and client specifications. It is aimed at candidates with substantial experience in commercial diving supervision for marine or construction projects.
What you would do
- Plan and supervise commercial diving operations in line with approved diving plans and project requirements.
- Coordinate diving personnel, equipment, tools and support resources for diving activities.
- Conduct pre-dive meetings, toolbox talks and diving briefings with the diving team.
- Review risk assessments, diving procedures, method statements and emergency arrangements before diving.
- Verify readiness, suitability and condition of diving equipment and ensure pre-dive checks and equipment inspections are completed.
- Supervise and monitor divers and diving support personnel during underwater operations.
What they are asking for
- Recognised qualification or certification as a commercial diver and/or diving supervisor.
- Valid certification from a recognised commercial diving certification or regulatory body.
- Offshore/marine safety and medical certifications as required for the project.
- Current commercial diver medical fitness certificate.
- Significant experience in commercial diving operations and in supervising diving teams.
- Experience in underwater construction, inspection, maintenance, repair, marine works, or related activities.
