About this role
Role: Dispatcher for Tincan Island Container Terminal in Lagos. The job oversees the central deployment, monitoring and control of all cargo handling equipment and the distribution of containers planned for loading on vessels, acting as a real-time coordination hub with yard, marine and vessel teams to ensure efficient equipment use and smooth vessel and yard operations.
What you would do
- Deploy and reallocate all cargo handling equipment per shift to align with vessel, yard and gate priorities.
- Monitor live operations using the Terminal Operating System and control room systems, tracking equipment movement and productivity.
- Identify idle equipment, bottlenecks and inefficiencies in real time and initiate corrective actions.
- Use the TOS to monitor job execution and coordinate assignment and reassignment of jobs with the Control Room and Planning teams.
- Ensure the accuracy of operational data related to equipment deployment and movements while supporting vessel productivity and yard performance targets.
- Maintain real-time communication with operational stakeholders and prepare shift reports on equipment utilisation and performance.
What they are asking for
- Minimum of HND or Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Engineering or related fields.
- At least 3 years of experience in terminal operations, dispatch, yard or control room functions.
- Experience in equipment coordination is an advantage.
- Knowledge of cargo handling equipment operations and deployment logic.
- Proficiency in Terminal Operating Software (TOS).
- Strong communication, coordination and multitasking skills; ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 environment.
