Director of Works and Services

About this role

The Director of Works and Services leads the university's Works and Services Department, reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and overseeing planning, execution and monitoring of infrastructural projects across the university. The role also includes leadership duties within the Health Centre Directorate as directed by university leadership.

What you would do

• Provide professional and administrative leadership for the Health Centre Directorate
• Coordinate and supervise healthcare staff including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and laboratory staff
• Develop and implement policies for effective healthcare delivery
• Ensure availability of preventive, diagnostic, curative and emergency medical services
• Advise on medical, public health and occupational health matters to management
• Prepare and manage the Directorate's annual budget and ensure prudent use of medical facilities and resources

What they are asking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution
• Master's degree or PhD is an added advantage
• Minimum of 18 years post-qualification experience
• Experience as Deputy Director for at least 5 years
• At least 9 years in senior management within a public tertiary institution
• Registration with COREN and valid practicing licence; ICT compliant
