About this role
A full-time Data Management Support Professional is being sought for a Nigerian oil and gas company based in Port Harcourt, Rivers. The role focuses on maintaining geophysics databases, managing seismic data archives and ensuring key geophysical applications run reliably. The position involves supporting geoscientists, coordinating with IT and data teams, and facilitating data exchange with partners. The employer operates in the oil and gas / exploration and production sector and requires someone with strong data management and geophysics experience.
What you would do
- Maintain geophysics databases using internal and external data.
- Manage seismic data archives including indexing, transfer, storage and monitoring of tapes.
- Monitor disk space and develop capacity plans for current and future projects.
- Generate geophysics documents, charts, plots, listings and interpretation materials.
- Develop and maintain procedures for electronic data exchange with partners and stakeholders.
- Ensure functionality and availability of the SISMAGE software application.
- Provide training and manuals for geophysicists and technicians on SISMAGE applications.
- Test software, propose improvements and coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Collaborate with application support and Geoscience departments to improve efficiency.
- Support well data loading and updates using HQ DATAGATE and maintain EUREKA databases.

- BSc or MSc in Engineering, Science, Geophysics or related discipline.
- Several years of experience in Geophysics and Geoscience data management.
- Experience in seismic data acquisition and management.
- Hands-on experience with the SISMAGE application.
- Knowledge of Linux, MAJIX and XRAI NICE DCV environments.
- Strong database management and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience supporting geoscientists and managing technical data in oil and gas.
- Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in a multicultural environment.
