About this role
The position is for a Cyclotron Radiochemist (Quality Control) at AMCE Abuja, responsible for QC of radiopharmaceuticals produced at the hospital’s cyclotron facility to support PET imaging. The role requires leading QC activities, ensuring GMP-compliant production and high-purity radiotracers for clinical use.
What you would do
- Lead QC testing for radiopharmaceuticals (radiochemical purity, chemical purity, pH, radionuclidic identity, sterility).
- Ensure QC equipment is calibrated and maintained to GMP standards.
- Maintain QC batch documentation with traceability.
- Develop, validate and implement QC SOPs for novel radiotracers.
- Support routine synthesis, purification and QC of PET radiotracers using automated synthesis modules.
- Coordinate production schedules to meet clinical demand.
What they are asking for
- Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry, Radiopharmacy or related field.
- Formal training and certification in GMP and radiopharmacy (highly preferred).
- Eligibility to act as a Qualified Person for radiopharmaceuticals (advantage).
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a clinical or research radiopharmaceutical production environment, specifically with PET radiotracers.
- Demonstrated GMP-compliant QC experience and track record in method development, validation and optimisation of QC methods for radiopharmaceuticals.
- Experience in a regulated laboratory with analytical techniques including HPLC, GC, TLC and gamma-ray spectrometry.
