Cyclotron Radiochemist
About this role
Acyclic role overseeing the development, synthesis and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals at AMCE Abuja’s cyclotron facility to support PET imaging and nuclear medicine. Suitable for experienced radiochemists with leadership abilities in a regulated lab environment.
What you would do
- Perform routine synthesis, purification and quality control of PET radiotracers using automated modules
- Develop and optimise new radiochemistry methods for novel radiotracers
- Manage production schedules to meet clinical demand in coordination with cyclotron and nuclear medicine teams
- Conduct QC testing for radiopharmaceuticals including purity, identity and sterility; maintain GMP-compliant documentation
- Manage QC laboratory operations including equipment calibration and maintenance
- Train and mentor junior staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
What they are asking for
- Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry or related field
- GMP and radiopharmacy training or certification preferred
- Knowledge of organic chemistry, radiochemistry principles and analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, TLC)
- Experience with automated radiochemistry synthesis modules in a regulated lab
- 3–5 years hands-on radiopharmaceutical production experience, preferably with PET radiotracers
- Proven GMP-compliant production and QC experience; method development experience desirable
