Cyclotron Manager at The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja. What you would do
- Plan and schedule daily and weekly cyclotron operations to meet clinical, commercial and research demands, in collaboration with radiochemistry and nuclear medicine teams.
- Oversee safe and efficient operation of the cyclotron and associated equipment to ensure reliable production of medical isotopes.
- Monitor cyclotron performance and production data; implement improvements to optimise yield and quality.
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programmes and asset care, coordinating with OEMs and external vendors for servicing and major replacements.
- Ensure radiopharmaceutical production activities comply with cGMP and regulatory requirements; maintain radiation safety programmes and records.
- Lead, mentor and develop the cyclotron team; conduct performance evaluations and provide training.
What they are asking for
- Proven experience in team leadership, maintenance programme management, and regulatory compliance within a cyclotron or nuclear medicine facility.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical), Physics, Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field; Master's degree highly desirable.
- Professional certification or formal training in cyclotron operations, radiation safety or nuclear medicine technology (eg, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Radiation Safety Officer) desirable.
- Strong knowledge of cyclotron systems, isotope production principles, cGMP standards, and radiation safety regulations.
- 5–7 years of progressive cyclotron operations experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience with OEM cyclotron systems (IBA, GE, Siemens), hot cells, chemistry modules, and quality management systems (ISO, cGMP) advantageous.
