Credit Risk Portfolio Manager
About this role
CredPal seeks an experienced Credit Risk Portfolio Manager to lead the performance, quality and growth of CredPal loan portfolios for consumer and business lending. The role focuses on strengthening underwriting and portfolio risk strategies, monitoring credit performance and losses, identifying emerging risks and ensuring sustainable, profitable lending growth for CredPal.
What you would do
- Oversee the health and performance of CredPal loan portfolios for consumer and business lending
- Develop and refine underwriting frameworks, scorecards, decision rules, credit limits and risk-based pricing
- Assess business borrowers using financial statements, cash flow, repayment capacity and other relevant indicators
- Establish early-warning indicators and monitor deteriorating accounts and emerging portfolio risks
- Lead fraud prevention strategies and coordinate with Data, Product and Engineering to strengthen fraud-detection rules and automated controls
- Own credit policy governance, exposure limits and risk controls across lending products
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Statistics or related field; postgraduate degree or professional certification is advantageous
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in credit risk, portfolio management, underwriting, lending or related role in banking, fintech or financial services
- Proven experience managing consumer and/or business loan portfolios and understanding risk dynamics across both segments
- Strong knowledge of credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring, risk segmentation, credit policy, delinquency management and portfolio optimisation
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI and SQL; knowledge of Python or other analytics tools is a plus
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and understand Nigerian regulatory requirements
