Consultant Urologist
About this role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence Abuja seeks a Consultant Urologist to diagnose, treat and manage conditions of the urinary tract and male reproductive system, and to perform a range of urological surgeries including minimally invasive and robotic procedures. The role also involves leading the urology department, participating in clinical governance and research, and contributing to education and quality improvement.
What you would do
- Manage a wide range of urological cases, including elective and emergency care.
- Perform cystoscopy, tumour resections, stone extractions, and minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures.
- Lead the urology department and supervise junior doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
- Develop individualised treatment plans and communicate options, risks and expected outcomes to patients and families.
- Lead clinical audits, governance activities and multidisciplinary team meetings; contribute to cancer care planning and service quality improvement.
- Contribute to teaching, supervision, clinical research and the development of urological protocols and care pathways.
What they are asking for
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.
- Fellowship in Urology or related surgical specialty (e.g., FMCS, FWACS, FRCS or international equivalent) and full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with a valid practicing license.
- Minimum seven years post-fellowship experience in urological practice with a strong surgical portfolio.
- Proficiency in a broad range of urological procedures, including minimally invasive techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a clinical team; teaching, supervision and research.
- Sub-specialisation in uro-oncology, endourology, pediatric urology or andrology is advantageous.
