About this role
The role is for a Consultant in Paediatrics based in Lagos, delivering specialist paediatric care across the patient pathway. It involves providing expert assessment, diagnosis and management, supervising junior medical staff and contributing to clinical standards and governance within the paediatrics service.
What you would do
- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of paediatric patients, including complex cases, and act as a senior point of referral for junior medical staff.
- Supervise, teach and support the training and development of senior medical officers, medical officers and trainees.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient-safety activities.
- Coordinate care with other specialties, diagnostics, pharmacy, nursing, allied health and managed-care/HMO functions, applying evidence-based, cost-effective practice.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and ensure current MDCN registration/licence in line with internal clinical policy.
What they are asking for
- MBBS or MBChB from a recognised institution.
- Completion of the required national housemanship/internship and NYSC, or valid exemption where applicable.
- Minimum of 3 years post-fellowship specialist experience in paediatrics.
- Demonstrable competence in the independent management of complex paediatric cases.
- Experience teaching, training and supervising junior medical staff.
- Current MDCN registration/licence.
