Consultant Oncologist (Radiotherapy)

About this role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence Abuja is seeking a Consultant Radiotherapist (Oncology) to provide clinical leadership in radiation oncology. The role involves assessing, planning and delivering radiotherapy within a multidisciplinary team, supervising junior staff, and contributing to innovation and research in a 500-bed specialty hospital.

What you would do

• Provide expert consultation, diagnosis, and management for patients requiring radiation oncology services.
• Develop, prescribe and oversee complex radiotherapy treatment plans using advanced technologies.
• Ensure accurate treatment planning, verification, and administration in collaboration with medical physicists and dosimetrists.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in meetings to determine optimal patient care pathways.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance and safety protocols for radiotherapy equipment and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
• Supervise, mentor and train junior doctors, registrars and clinical fellows in radiation oncology.

What they are asking for

• Medical degree MBBS or equivalent from a recognised institution.
• Fellowship or Board Certification in Radiation Oncology/Clinical Oncology and a valid medical licence.
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant oncology subspecialty (desirable).
• Minimum of five years of post-fellowship experience in clinical radiation oncology.
• Proven expertise in advanced radiotherapy techniques: IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, and brachytherapy.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary oncology environment and proficiency with modern radiotherapy planning systems and record-and-verify systems.
