About this role
The role is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for Dragnet Nigeria in Lagos. It involves delivering specialist obstetrics and gynaecology care across the patient pathway, supervising junior medical staff and contributing to clinical governance.
What you would do
- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of obstetrics and gynaecology patients, including complex cases.
- Act as a senior point of referral for junior medical staff.
- Supervise, teach and support the training and development of senior medical officers, medical officers and trainees.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient safety activities.
- Coordinate care with other specialties, diagnostics, pharmacy, nursing, allied health and managed-care/HMO functions, applying evidence-based, cost-effective practice.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and current MDCN registration/licence in line with internal clinical policy.
What they are asking for
- MBBS or MBChB from a recognised institution; completion of national housemanship/internship and NYSC, or valid exemption.
- Current MDCN registration/licence and ability to maintain up-to-date records.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-fellowship specialist experience in obstetrics and gynaecology; demonstrable competence in independent management of complex cases.
- Comprehensive knowledge of obstetrics and gynaecology across a broad range of acute and chronic presentations.
- Ability to teach, supervise and support the development of junior medical staff; effective communication and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Membership of relevant specialty associations or faculties; additional sub-specialty training or certification relevant to the discipline.
