Construction Manager
About this role
A Construction Manager is needed to oversee day-to-day construction activities in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, ensuring work is done safely, per approved drawings and specifications, on schedule and within budget. The role involves coordinating Civil, Structural, Architectural, MEP and finishing works, managing labour, equipment and subcontractors, and ensuring quality and safety standards. The employer, PeopleVantage Consulting Limited, is a HR and corporate administration consulting firm recruiting for a landmark hospital project and related healthcare facilities in Akwa Ibom. Location preference is for candidates based in Uyo or willing to relocate.
What you would do
- Plan and coordinate daily site activities across disciplines
- Ensure construction follows approved drawings, specifications and schedules
- Monitor progress, identify delays and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials and subcontractors
- Develop and monitor construction schedules using Primavera P6
- Prepare progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Coordinate with Project Manager and Controls team on recovery plans
- Ensure compliance with designs, specifications and quality standards
- Enforce HSE policies and promote a safe working environment
- Supervise subcontractors, site engineers and construction teams and manage interfaces
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction Management or related discipline
- 10–15 years of relevant construction experience, including at least 5 years in a senior site management role
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory)
- Experience managing large-scale, complex building projects (hospital, high-rise or institutional projects an advantage)
- Strong understanding of construction methods, drawings, specifications, quality control and HSE requirements
- Professional registration with COREN, CORBON or related body an advantage
