About this role
Role: Compliance Officer/Chief Compliance Officer at a Fund/Portfolio Management Company in Victoria Island, Lagos. The role involves establishing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining a robust compliance framework to meet all applicable laws and regulatory requirements, and acting as the primary liaison with regulators such as the SEC and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit. It is a full-time position reporting to the Group Chief Compliance Officer/Managing Director, with reporting to the Board Audit & Risk Committee or Board Compliance Committee where applicable.
What you would do
- Develop and maintain the Compliance Manual, policies and procedures.
- Monitor compliance with SEC Rules and Regulations, ISA, and AML/CFT/CPF requirements.
- Maintain a regulatory obligations register and implement changes from regulatory updates.
- Advise Management and the Board on regulatory developments and compliance risks.
- Develop AML/CFT/CPF policies and oversee CDD/EDD, PEPs and sanctions monitoring, and review of suspicious transactions.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings to SEC.
What they are asking for
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Professional compliance and/or risk management certification(s) is an added advantage.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in compliance, risk management, AML, internal control, legal or regulatory roles.
- At least 1–3 years in a SEC-regulated Capital Market Operator environment; experience with Fund/Portfolio Management operations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ISA, SEC Rules and Regulations, SEC AML/CFT/CPF Regulations, NFIU AML/CFT requirements, corporate governance, data protection laws, capital market operations, collective investment schemes, fund management activities, and risk management frameworks.
- Integrity and ethical conduct, independence, sound judgment, analytical thinking, attention to detail, communication and influencing skills, report writing, and stakeholder management.
