About this role
Role: Compliance Officer for WAEP in Lagos. The role supports the company’s legal and regulatory compliance framework, maintains compliance records and controls, and coordinates reviews while promoting ethical conduct across WAEP’s upstream operations in line with laws and company controls. It targets candidates with substantial compliance, legal, audit, risk or governance experience, ideally within oil and gas or a regulated industry.
What you would do
- Monitor regulatory obligations and maintain compliance controls and records
- Coordinate compliance reviews and identify gaps, exceptions and corrective actions
- Maintain the corporate compliance register and track statutory, regulatory, contractual obligations
- Support due diligence and screening of third parties and vendors
- Assist with investigations and fact-finding while maintaining confidentiality
- Prepare periodic compliance reports and dashboards for management and assurance reviews

- Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline
- 8-12 years of relevant compliance, legal, audit, risk or governance experience
- Experience in oil and gas or another regulated industry is preferred
