College Librarian

About this role

The Federal College of Education, Kano is seeking a College Librarian. The role reports to the Provost and oversees the administration of the college library and coordination of library services across academic units. The appointment is a single five-year term in line with relevant college education acts and service conditions. The position requires substantial professional and leadership experience within tertiary education libraries and registration with the Librarians' Registration Council of Nigeria, plus ICT and digital library skills. The salary and conditions follow the standard CONTEDISS/CONPCASS scales as determined by the government and NCCE.

• Administer the college library.

• Maintain library collections and digital resources.

• Master's Degree in Library Science or Information Science with at least 15 years post-qualification cognate experience; or
• PhD in Library Science or Information Science with at least 12 years post-qualification cognate experience.
• Have served as Chief Librarian or Deputy College Librarian for at least 5 years in a recognised tertiary institution.
• Registered with the Librarians' Registration Council of Nigeria or equivalent.
• Evidence of substantial research publications and scholarly output comparable to Chief Lecturer.
• Proven ICT skills, library automation, and digital library management experience.
• Demonstrable managerial and personal skills including integrity and resource management.
• Not more than 59 years old at appointment.
