About this role
A Cloud Platform Engineer at Supabase works within Cloud Engineering to shape governance, platform tooling, and hands-on operations for AWS and GCP. The role covers cloud governance, IaC, self-service capabilities, security primitives, and cross‑account management, with a focus on creating scalable, reusable building blocks and guidance. You will turn complex infrastructure problems into pragmatic systems and document standards for engineering teams. The position involves owning cloud‑level primitives, including networking, identity, observability, and billing visibility, while collaborating across globally distributed teams. Supabase supports a fully remote, globally distributed workforce with ESOP and a range of benefits.
What you would do
- Design and implement cloud governance for AWS and GCP, including identity, account structure, access controls, and guardrails.
- Build reusable infrastructure and blocks using Infrastructure as Code to enable safe, consistent provisioning.
- Create self‑service capabilities to reduce friction for engineers.
- Own resource governance and visibility, including tagging, inventory, ownership, and cross‑account billing data.
- Develop reusable security primitives such as secrets storage, KMS, certificate management, token services, and mTLS.
- Manage cloud networking and operational primitives, including IP management, DNS, and health signals like service limits and alerts.
- Combine software engineering with hands‑on operations to build, deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve systems.
- Document and share cloud engineering best practices through tooling, examples, and enablement materials.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in a globally distributed, asynchronous environment.
- Align on architectural and implementation approaches that scale with the company.
What they are asking for
- 5+ years in cloud governance, platform engineering or operations with production systems experience and on‑call practice.
- Experience with large migrations or rearchitecting cloud setups, such as AWS account topology, IaC adoption, or centralised identity/SO
- Proficiency in building internal platforms and self‑service experiences for engineers.
- Depth in at least one of: tooling and IAM/SSO with AWS, or software engineering with production code (Go, Rust or similar), or operations with pager-driven incident handling and SLOs.
- Comfort with infrastructure as software, IaC, and automation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse, async teams.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and iteratively improve systems.
