Chinese Translator
About this role
Avatar New Energy Materials Company Limited in Nasarawa is looking for a full-time Chinese Translator. The role requires fluency in Chinese and English to translate written material and interpret spoken communication between Chinese management and Nigerian staff, particularly in production settings. The translator will support production activities, document translation, and act as a cultural bridge to ensure clear communication on the factory floor. The employer operates in Nigeria’s mining sector, focusing on exploration, mining and processing of lithium, with an emphasis on sustainable practices and community development.
What you would do
- Translate Chinese to English and English to Chinese for written documents and daily reports
- Interpret spoken communication during meetings and on-site interactions between Chinese management and Nigerian staff
- Assist the Head of the Production Department in supervising daily factory activities
- Monitor production activities and ensure workers understand and follow instructions
- Communicate production targets, work schedules and procedures to production staff
- Provide translation support during production meetings, training and equipment operation instructions
- Help resolve communication gaps between Chinese supervisors and Nigerian workers
- Act as a cultural bridge between Chinese and Nigerian employees to promote clear communication
- Support translation of technical materials and work instructions
- Contribute to ensuring smooth production operations across the site
What they are asking for
- B.Sc Degree with 2 - 3 years of experience
- Proven translation and interpretation experience, preferably in mining, business or technical environments
- Fluent in Chinese and English with strong written and verbal skills
- Hausa language speaking/hearing is a plus
- Experience studying or working in China is a plus
- Strong responsibility and management skills
