About this role
The Havana Group of Companies in Enugu seeks an experienced Chief Operating Officer to drive operational excellence across the group. The role involves turning strategic priorities into practical plans, aligning activity across business units, and delivering measurable results. It is aimed at an accomplished operator who can build structure in growing businesses, lead senior teams, and support the group’s expansion.
What you would do
- Translate the Group's strategic objectives into actionable operational plans and lead cross-unit execution
- Oversee day-to-day operations, establish standards and processes, and monitor KPIs to improve efficiency and profitability
- Provide leadership to department heads, set performance expectations, and develop senior managers
- Implement governance, controls, reporting structures and drive technology adoption for efficiency
- Monitor budgets and resource use with the CEO and Finance, ensuring decisions align with financial goals
- Support growth and expansion by assessing new markets or products and building scalable systems
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field; MBA or equivalent qualification is an advantage
- At least 8 years of progressive management and leadership experience in senior operational or executive roles; experience across multiple departments or units
- Proven track record of scaling or restructuring a growing organisation and strong commercial acumen
- Experience implementing systems and processes, and developing senior managers and cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and project/execution skills
- Ability to prioritise, make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment, with knowledge of governance, risk management and operational controls and high integrity
