Chief Financial Officer
About this role
Smartcity Plc seeks an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead its financial strategy, treasury operations, capital management, investment oversight and risk management. The role focuses on driving financial sustainability, optimising capital allocation and governance to support long-term growth. The company is involved in real estate and infrastructure projects and collaborates with public and private sector partners to develop technology and infrastructure initiatives. The CFO will oversee financial reporting, controls, budgeting and regulatory compliance while managing relationships with investors, lenders and the Board. The position is based in Lagos and targets senior finance professionals with a strong track record in related sectors.
What you would do
- Oversee liquidity, working capital, fundraising and banking relationships
- Optimise capital structure and manage capital allocation
- Ensure IFRS-compliant financial reporting and robust internal controls
- Lead budgeting, audits and financial governance
- Direct financial strategy, investment analysis, due diligence and valuations
- Provide financial advisory on strategic transactions
- Oversee financial risk management, tax planning and regulatory compliance
- Manage insurance and asset protection
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team
- Manage relationships with investors, lenders, Board and key stakeholders
What they are asking for
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
- Mandatory professional qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent)
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification an advantage
- Minimum of 15 years' progressive finance experience
- At least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role
- Experience in real estate investment, private equity, hospitality or infrastructure finance
- Strong IFRS, financial modelling, capital markets, investment analysis and risk management expertise
- Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with international investors, DFIs and multilateral agencies an advantage
