Chief Engineer

About this role

Hyatt Regency Lagos Ikeja is recruiting for a Chief Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of all hotel facilities and building systems. The role aims to provide a safe, efficient and comfortable environment for guests and staff while upholding Hyatt standards, regulatory compliance and sustainability goals within budget. It is a full-time leadership position located in Ikeja, Lagos. The role involves managing engineering operations, safety, finances, team leadership, project management and sustainability efforts for the hotel.

What you would do

• Direct and manage all engineering and maintenance activities in the hotel.
• Ensure efficient operation of MEP, HVAC, kitchen, laundry and life-safety systems.
• Resolve maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns promptly.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Lead safety inspections, risk assessments and emergency preparedness.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations and Hyatt standards.
• Manage capital expenditures and maintenance budgets; monitor utility use and energy savings.
• Recruit, train, coach and evaluate engineering staff; manage staffing and scheduling.
• Oversee renovation, refurbishment and property improvement projects and report on timelines and costs.

What they are asking for

• 3-5 years in a leadership role within a luxury hotel environment.
• Pre-opening experience is an added advantage.
• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or related field.
• 8-10 years of engineering experience in hospitality, commercial facilities or large-scale property management.
