About this role
A Chief Engineer is needed to lead the Engine Department on a vessel, ensuring safe operation, maintenance and repair of propulsion, auxiliary and electrical systems, in alignment with SMS and marine regulations. The role targets experienced marine engineers with leadership experience who can manage engineering teams and coordinate vessel maintenance and surveys.
What you would do
- Oversee safe and efficient operation of main propulsion and onboard machinery.
- Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Lead and manage the Engine Department, including duties allocation and watchkeeping.
- Ensure compliance with SMS, ISM, safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain machinery maintenance records, inventories and technical documentation.
- Coordinate repairs, dry-docking, refit works and liaise with Master/Captain on operations and safety.
What they are asking for
- University degree or HND in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency (CoC) or equivalent.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 8 years in leadership within marine or oil & gas sectors.
- Strong knowledge of marine machinery, vessel systems and engine operations.
- Experience with vessel maintenance, dry-docking and classification requirements.
- Proven leadership, planning, communication and people-management skills.
