About this role
A Chief Engineer is sought to lead the Engine Department on a vessel, ensuring safe operation, maintenance and repair of propulsion and auxiliary systems, and compliance with SMS and maritime regulations. The role targets experienced marine engineers with leadership experience in the marine or oil and gas sectors, based in Rivers.
What you would do
- Oversee safe operation of main propulsion and onboard machinery
- Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems
- Lead and manage the Engine Department including duty allocation and watchkeeping
- Ensure compliance with SMS, ISM, safety procedures and maritime regulations
- Maintain maintenance records, inventories and technical documentation
- Coordinate repairs, dry-docking, surveys and liaise with Master/Captain on operations and safety
What they are asking for
- University degree or HND in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Class 1 CoC or equivalent
- 10–15 years of engineering experience, with at least 8 years in a leadership/management role in marine or oil & gas
- Strong knowledge of marine machinery, vessel systems and engine operations
- Experience with vessel maintenance, dry-docking and classification requirements
- Leadership, planning, communication and people-management skills
