Branch Accountant
About this role
A full-time Branch Accountant is being sought for Sundry Markets Limited in Lagos to manage financial processes at the branch level and ensure accurate, policy-compliant records. The role focuses on guarding financial integrity, handling cash and POS transactions, and posting branch activity into the ERP system. It involves reconciling cash, vetting invoices, resolving POS disputes, and maintaining robust financial controls at the branch. What you would do
- Issue daily cash floats to cashiers and ensure safe cash handling and timely bank lodgment
- Reconcile cash and POS transactions daily and investigate discrepancies
- Vet invoices for accuracy before posting to the ERP system
- Respond to and resolve POS disputes from customers
- Prepare monthly shortage reports and write off transferred stock between departments
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records
- Post branch revenue and transactions into the ERP journals
- Maintain robust financial controls at the branch and ensure adherence to policies
- Support month-end close activities at the branch
- Collaborate with branch team to ensure accurate financial reporting

- Minimum of B.Sc. or HND in Accountancy or related field
- At least 4 years of experience in a similar role
- NYSC discharged, exemption or exclusion letter
- ICAN certification is an added advantage
- Experience in accounting or cash management and familiarity with reconciliation processes
- Proficient in ERP software with strong numerical and analytical skills
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle cash securely and responsibly
- Good problem-solving skills for POS and transactional disputes
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organisational skills
